San Diego
June 15th, 2011We are back from the Surf Montreal 2011 San Diego Surfari and it was INCREDIBLE!!!! For those of you that are not aware we took a trip to San Diego and the neighboring surf spots for a 1 week surf trip. We call it a Surfari because of the fact that we combined a Safari (Overland journey or expedition) with some awesome surfing (most awesome sport) to produce a Surfari.
It didn’t happen overnight. It took about 2 years to get the concept down, 2 years of surfing exploration (Florida, North Carolina, New York, New Hampshire, Maine, San Francisco, Sana Cruz, Malibu, Rincon, LA, Oceanside), many hours of checking historic swell data and weather patterns (can’t risk it being flat or too cold, too rainy!), hours of searching for destinations that combine the best surfing with reasonable prices, 6 months of planning and a 3 week California adventure to find the best spots to not only surf, but eat, sleep and adventure!
San Diego was chosen due to the fact that in May almost everyday is sunny, it’s a pretty cheap flight from Burlington, there’s a wicked good hard core surf shop close by that is owned by a Canadian Ex Pat (Real Surf), awesome Sushi restaurant (Fish Joint) and about 20 amazing surf spots all within an hour and a half drive from what turned out to be a really fun Hostel (Banana Bungalow) located on the beach!
We will post a slide show of the trip shortly once all the pictures are put together but for now see below for a few snapshots of the trip!

San Diego
May 25th, 2011The San Diego Surfari is amazing. We are halfway through our trip and it’s great. The start of the week was a bit cold and cloudy with BIG crazy surf. Now a couple days later we have toured San Diego Zoo, Hollywood and Huntington beach the waves have shaped up to be some of the best I’ve seen, the sun is hot and not a cloud in the sky. AMAZING!!!!!
